...and I'll say to you again, literally millions of living things die every day and besides a few dodgy double-exposed photos there is ABSOLUTELY NO EVIDENCE EXISTING IN THE WORLD that anything has ever come back from beyond the grave.

Surely people making the case for magical superstition have to have the onus of evidence that it exists, not the other way around?

Re: are you afraid of dying / the afterlife?
Not afraid of dying per se

Just afraid of dying accidentally, for example being accidentally crushed in a rubbish truck. Like twigs being snapped.

Falling down a very dark hole in a nowhere near civilization field. Dying having shouted hoarse for help.

Being impaled by a falling scaffolding pole in the high street.

Being accidentally knocked in front of an hgv and obliterated in a miasma of popping skin and splintered bones ending up enmeshed in its wheel arches like shredded cabbage to be pored over by accident scenes officers

Nurse,

"Moth heaven is a huge lightbulb to be head-butted for all eternity".

Hell surely? Thinking they're aiming for the moon, instead they get singed over and over till death.

Re: are you afraid of dying / the afterlife?
Not afraid of dying, just a healthy fear of missing out on things!

Re: are you afraid of dying / the afterlife?
I expect woodlouse heaven is an infinite dirty carpet.

Wasp heaven is a small amount of lager in the bottom of a massive glass.

Moth heaven is a huge lightbulb to be head-butted for all eternity.

Good point, was thinking along the same lines, we are just another species. Just because we have the capacity to think all these things it doesn't mean that they exist.

No, and sorry for upsetting the primitive, stupid superstitious but there is no afterlife. Science rules.

Even there is a heaven and angels and harps and all that game...where everything's wonderful.
Soon get fucking bored of it wouldn't you?
The big sleep is fine by me.

Having the old big C, its obviously crossed my mind but its not like I spend ages thinking about pegging it.What upsets me more is the thought of wasting away in some shitty hospital ward.

But Dudley, you're clearly a simpleton. That's bound to make mortality a concept beyond your reasoning.

I mean, yeah, your soul will probably live on in bliss.

When I was a kid I used to get so excited about the prospect of going to West ham at the weekend I got genuinely worried I might actually be killed beforehand so I wouldn't be able to make it.

I'm afraid of dying before Tuesday... after that, not bothered.

I've had to chuckle at a few of these comments, as it really does go on to confirm my original post that some folk are absolutely certain of what's around that eternal corner.

Much easier to mack off anyone who thinks there's 'something else'.

I'll say it again, come back to me once you have all the answers.

Do chimpanzees have an aftelife? I mean thats all we are but a lot smarter so we invented something because as us being so smart it just goes to show we deserve.

That's aggrogance of the human race now and our ability to self destroy our planet.

Two weeks ago I lost my father to cancer after after a few months of suffering. I'd rather mine was sudden.

I don't think I'll see much past 60. Sure I do go to the gym but I drink, smoke and party too much and probably average 5 hours of sleep a day and you should have at least 7.

A mate of mine almost drowned and had to be resussistated. said it was very euphoric..he hallucinated then blacked out. Makes sense as the brian starts to be depleted of oxygenated blood.

Just one big sleep you never wake up from I'm afraid.

Re: are you afraid of dying / the afterlife?
I think the afterlife is just mans ego (Surely I will go on forever!) & a con by religious types to make the masses behave & conform.
This is all you've got people, enjoy it while it lasts.

Having had both parents deteriorate & die in a nursing facility in the last 8 months it's just made me more determined to go while I still have my own faculties. No interest in dragging it on for the sake of it & not scared of going.
Not yet but !

Re: are you afraid of dying / the afterlife?
Not that afraid of dying for my own sake, though there are still a fair few things I'd still like to do in life.

What does concern me however is what would happen to Far East Hammerette (still at school) should I pop my clogs anytime soon.

Who's afraid of dying
I'm just afraid of bleeding
Tears of fear I'm crying
And my mama I am needing

Must confess the idea of reincarnation intrigues me, but as Rodney Trotter once said knowing my luck I'd come back as me!!

My mate reckons you are transported to another world, which you can explore, but can't feel or touch anything. Actually, come to think of it, he was talking about the oculus rift
